Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech and Transfer to Imlil (1740m)
Your 8-day Toubkal Ski Touring adventure begins with your arrival at Marrakech Airport. You will be warmly received and transferred to the charming village of Imlil, situated at an elevation of 1740 meters above sea level. As the day winds down, you’ll enjoy a delightful dinner and settle in for an overnight stay, brimming with anticipation for the days ahead.
Day 2: Imlil to Epiney Refuge (3000m) via Azib Tamsoult
Your journey commences with a trek from Imlil to the village of M’zik. From there, you’ll ascend to the Tizi Mzik pass at 2464 meters, crossing through enchanting pine forests and juniper and Aleppo pine groves. A mountain lunch fuels your exploration. As you traverse the mountainside, you’ll reach the folds of Azib Tamsoult (2100m) and continue on to the Epiney Refuge at 3000 meters. While the comfort may be simple, the site’s beauty, including views of Ouanoukrim and Tazarhart peaks, more than compensates.
Day 3: Summit Ascent - Biguinoussène (4000m)
Today, the challenge awaits as you ascend to the summit of Biguinoussène at 4002 meters in the Timler valley. The journey involves a steep climb followed by a descent via the Tadat ridge or the same route. The route chosen depends on the participants’ level of skiing and their physical condition.
Day 4: Tizi Melloul (3800m) to Neltner Refuge (3207m) via Tizi Ouanoukrim
The day begins with a climb to Tizi Melloul at 3800 meters. After traversing a small lock with skis on your back, you’ll navigate a captivating valley dominated by towering peaks. The ascent takes you to Tizi n’Ouanoukrim at 3965 meters, offering an incredible viewpoint of Toubkal and its surroundings. The descent leads you back to Neltner Refuge at 3207 meters through a breathtaking ski descent.
Day 5: Summit Ascent - Toubkal (4167m) and Return to Tachdirte
Today’s challenge is the ascent of Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa at 4167 meters. The climb includes a steep section with crampons, and depending on snow quality, you may finish the ascent on skis. The summit ridge involves skiing down with skis on your back. The panoramic views of the Atlas Peaks and beyond are extraordinary. Descend via the north ridge with crampons or skis, leading to a valley under Neltner Refuge. The descent continues to Sidi Chamkarouch (2310m) and then back to Imlil. You’ll then be transported to the village of Tachdirte for the night.
Day 6: Farewell to the Mountains and Return to Marrakech
This day presents another captivating ascent, this time to Iguenouane at 3882 meters. The climb offers stunning vistas and a ski descent to the village of Tachedirt (2310m) with no significant difficulty. From there, you’ll be transported back to Imlil, and the mode of transportation changes as you return to Marrakech. An overnight stay at the Riad Dar Saad in the Medina awaits.
Day 7: Summit Ascent - Iguenouane (3882m) and Return
An early start propels you to the summit of Iguenouane, a peak standing tall at 3882 meters. The ascent is a mix of steep and narrow sections, opening into panoramic valleys and breathtaking slopes. A descent follows through the north valley, leading back to Tachdirte village for another night’s stay.
Day 8: Farewell to Marrakech
Your journey concludes with a free morning to explore Marrakech. Following breakfast and city exploration, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your departure, bidding farewell to the captivating landscapes and memories of your 8-day Toubkal Ski Touring adventure.
